Research Centre Principles
In 2004, the founding researcher team identified the following operating principles to guide their work together.
- Research teams will strive for a multidisciplinary contribution and perspective.
- Research projects will consider prevention questions, as appropriate, at all levels including primary, secondary and tertiary.
- The Centre will remain focused within its stated mandate and scope (not over extend, not attempt to be all things to all people) in order to maximize its use of resources and continue to deepen its distinctive contribution to the field.
- The Centre will strive to be inclusive and link with others in the field in all of its activities.
- The development of provincial research capacity will be, not only an objective of the Centre, but also a core value of all members.
- The Centre will strive to operate a well-managed organization that includes data management and information and knowledge exchange as core priorities.
- The Centre will actively link with, and learn from, other Research Centres to collectively improve the capacity and capability of such institutions.
These principles continue to inform the work of the Centre.
